The Blackness Lotus is the unmarried most valuable normally printed carte in the game of Magic printed in a standard set. Due to its fast mana dispatch, it is also a fellow member of the Ability Nine, 9 notoriously powerful cards from the original Magic print runs.

Printed equally one of the Power Nine only in Alpha, Beta and Unlimited, this antiquity can provide a free mana boost for whatever deck. It is restricted in Vintage and banned in Legacy. Christopher Rush drew its original artwork.
On February 27th, 2019, a "Jewel Mint 9.5 grade" Beckett Grading Services graded Alpha Blackness Lotus was bought on eBay for a record $166,100[1]. On January 27, 2021, a "Gem Mint ten grade" was sold for $511,100.[2]

The Alpha version of the Black Lotus is usually considered to be the well-nigh valuable not-promotional Magic menu e'er printed, aside from misprinted cards.[3]
Originally, Magic did not limit the number of copies of a card you could play in a deck; this allowed start-plow wins with decks comprised of twenty Black Lotus, xx Channel, and 20 Fireball. The four-of maximum was rapidly added to the rules to avoid this, and Black Lotus and Aqueduct were later restricted or banned in their environments to make this even less likely.

Blackness lotuses have appeared in numerous Magic storyline arcs. A blackness lotus, House Carthalion'southward near powerful relic, was discovered past a young Adam Carthalion and was kept in Firm Scarlet in Arathoxia. Jared Carthalion stole it later on the Mistress of Firm Scarlet let him in and showed information technology to him, and later on used it to summon a Shivan Dragon to kill Ravidel at Castle Melmereth.
Blackness lotuses were reportedly grown on Tolaria, in the Lotus Vale, though this is hard to substantiate as later information makes no mention of them.
The sorcerer Towser found few black lotuses in the area of Whispering Woods.
